FAQ

PRE-FINISHED ENGINEERED MULTILAYERS FLOOR: WHAT IS IT?
When we talk about pre-finished engineered multi-layers floor we mean, in general agreement, a series of wooden elements, with different sizes, characterized by a different layers structure, with tongue and groove joint on the sides, already sanded and lacquered before the installation.
The multilayers structure has a relevant hardwood top layer that can be immediately walked, and a supporting layer which is demanded to hold back deformations due to the natural wood settlements and ensure extremely high resistance and hardness properties. The product is guaranteed with an easy and very fast installation thanks to the top quality of the processing and high-tech machinery. Parquet’s hardness and durability in time make your prefinished floor almost everlasting.
WHY SHOULD YOU CHOOSE A PREFINISHED WOOD FLOORING?
There are several advantages if you choose a prefinished wood flooring: there are very short installation time and the parquet can be immediately walked. Thanks to the multilayers the support and stability are incomparable. Finally the cleaning and maintenance are easy and non-committal tasks.
WHAT IS A LAMINATE FLOOR?
A laminate floor is a no wooden floor, with a decorative covering that is applied on the elements surface layer so that they perfectly replicate a wooden floor appearance. \r\nNormally the laminated is made by High Density Fibreboard (HDF) that has been processed in order to present a great resistance to wear. Laminate floors are the perfect fusion between innovation and technology: they are the perfect mix of design and crashworthiness and fire resistance.
HOW HAVE TO BE THE FOUNDATIONS AND SCREED BEFORE THE LAYING?
You can choose different laying solutions: on top of a cement screen, on panels wood based, on pre-existing floors or on nailing strips.
The subfloor has to be: dry and with a remaining humidity level not higher than 2% for cement screeds and 0.5% for anhydride screeds; solid and sound; as well as clean.
A very important aspect, regardless the kind of choosen foundations, it’s to apply polyethylene sheets folded over along the walls in order to create an effective vapour barrier. In case the parquet floor is laid on top of pre-existing floors, it is important to verify that these floors are in good condition, perfectly washed and grease-free: if you have ceramic or marble floors it is necessary to sandpaper, if it’s an old parquet floor it is necessary to plaster. For carpeting or linoleum, you must eliminate any glue residue by carrying out a light sanding.
FLOATING FLOOR INSTALLATION METHOD: WHAT IS IT?
When you choose to have a floating parquet floor wooden pieces are simply laid on top of the support surface, and the parquet planks are glued one to the other by means of vinyl glue applied over tongue and groove joints as stability guarantee.
Once the floating parquet installation is over the result will be a three layers structure: the foundations, a middle layer with differents features, such as vapour barrier and soundproofing, and the parquet.
GLUED FLOOR INSTALLATION METHOD: WHAT IS IT?
You can glue the parquet floor both with solid wood parquet and pre-finshed wooden floors,
In both cases you have to applied a suitable adhesive on the laying surface using a special spatula with triangular teeth so that the glue can be worked to obtain what is known as adhesive lines necessary to have a good contact between the glue layer and the parquet elements. The glue must be applied evenly, both a surplus and a lack of glue can preclude the proper laying of the parquet flooring and generate non recoverable damages.
Unlike the floating parquet, when you choose a glued technique the side of the boards are just connected, without using glue in the joints.
Be very careful with the pre-finished wood flooring while choosing the type of glue so that the already finished parquet will not be damaged.

VARNISHED FLOORS MAINTENANCE
The pre-finished varnished floor has received a protective finishing treatment which is structured to keep its features over time. This is the reason why maintenance is, all things considered, pretty easy.
It only take a few foresights to keep your parquet flooring beautiful and sanitized:
– Remove the dust that everyday will deposit on the floor using appropriate dust-grabber cloths, or using a fringed brush or a vacuum cleaner;
– Every once and a while it will be necessary to clean the wood flooring with a damp cloth. If you want you can add a few drops of neutral detergent to the water.
– Considering the wear and the foot traffic you must consider a periodic treatment with specific and protective products consisting of resins dispersed in water.
– Either way do not use alcohol, ammonia or solvents that may damage the varnish.
VARNISHED FLOORS EXTRAORDINARY MAINTENANCE
A varnished parquet floor tend to deteriorate in the exterior layer of varnish, that is the layer directly trampled on: after about 6/8 years in the areas subjected to greatest wear, and therefore more signed, you must organize a specialist intervention to remove the more used layer and revarnish the whole floor.
Thanks to this intervention the wooden floor can be restored to its original state. A properly treated and regularly maintained parquet can become virtually indestructible.
OIL FINISH PARQUET FLOORS ORDINARY MAINTENANCE
Cleaning and maintenance for oil finish parquet is not very different from the varnished parquet.
We recommend to do the ordinary cleaning with appropriate dust-grabber cloths, or using a fringed brush or a vacuum cleaner.
It is strictly forbidden use alcohol, ammonia or solvents which may damage the oil finishing. If your oil treated floor is particularly strained you can use a specific and protective maintenance oil.
For cleaning and maintenance interventions it’s advised to use liquid waxes that already contain natural self-polishing substances.
CHOW DO YOU MAKE THE ORDINARY MAINTENANCE OF LAMINATES?
Laminate floors are easy and swift to clean, since dust and dirt don’t catch on the surface. Eveyday cleaning can be done with a vacuum cleaner or an electrostatic dry cloth. It’s better to move in the longitudinal way with long zig zag movements.
It is advised to use neutral detergents that are specific for laminates. Please avoid to clean with steam since the laminates surface can be irreparable damaged.
HOW DO YOU MAKE THE ORDINARY MAINTENANCE OF OUTDOOR DECKING?
Decking floor has been treated to be water resistant, thanks to the use of anti-oxidant and reinforcing additives: this is the reason why you can clean the decking simply using water with a little neutral soap, with no need of specific products.
When a more accurate and in depth cleaning is necessary you can use diluted bleach, but don’t forget to profusely rinse out the decking afterwards.

CAN I INSTALL PARQUET FLOOR IN MY KITCHEN OR IN MY BATHROOM?
There’s no down side for parquet installation both in kitchen and in bathroom.
It is definetely better to choose species of wood that are more stable in contact with humidity, such as Doussiè, Iroko and Teak.
It is advisable to avoid stagnant water, because it can damage the parquet flooring.
We strongly recommend, in order to take good care of your wooden floor, to always open windows and aerate the rooms after the use of showers and the like, so that the humidity can pour out and not flow on the wood flooring level.
CAN I INSTALL A PARQUET WITH AN UNDERFLOOR HEATING SYSTEM?
Speaking of underfloor heating system ithe choice to install a parquet flooring is the best way from an efficiency point of view. A parquet is made by wood, that is a natural insulation material that prevent the direct contact with the heat coming from the radiant panels. The pre-finished parquet structure, thanks to its multilayers supporting layer, let the heat to spread uniformly.
WHICH IS THE BEST INSTALLATION TECHNIQUE: FLOATING INSTALALTION OR INSTALLATION BY GLUING?
The installation best method depends on the kind of space where the parquet floor will be laid. As a rule the floating laying is the best option when you want to preserve the exiting floor.
Laying by means of glue, on the other hand, is more advisable when you have the need of a more stable floor over time. When you have an underfloor heating system the gluing installation is better for prevent air chambers and heat dispersions.
